South Lakes men were unable to make up ground on the teams above them in Division Two North of the North West League as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at Northern.

The visitors gave a good account of themselves against their mid-table opponents, but they remain four points behind third-from-bottom Formby 3rd XI ahead of their home clash against that side on Saturday.

South Lakes ladies' good form in Division Three North West of the North League came to a crashing halt as they were beaten 5-0 at Lancaster University, who closed to within one point of them in the table.

Hail on the pitch forced the abandonment of Windermere men's 1st XI match against Knutsford in Division Two West of the North League.

With only around ten minutes remaining and the game at Troutbeck Bridge level at 1-1, the result could be a draw or the Cheshire club may insist on a replay, as they are currently second in the table behind Brooklands MU 3rd XI. Mere's goal was scored in open play by Will Dolman.

The start of Windermere men's 2nd XI match against Garstang in Division Four North North of the North West League was delayed by the hailstorm but it was completed and ended in a 2-2 draw.

Michael Shields gave Mere the lead only for Garstang to reply with two goals of their own before Steve Heyns scored with a pile-driver penalty strike.
