British Legion A moved to the brink of being crowned the Barrow Friday League's snooker champions once again with three games still to play after a 3-0 away win against nearest challengers British Legion put them six points clear.

The two captains got the night started, with Legion A's top man John Tyerman getting the better of Mike Smith 70-13, an early 31 break setting the scene.

Billy Burns took the second game with a tight 57-46 win over Jack Arnold and Dave Simpson sealed the whitewash with an overpowering 69-1 win over Allan Edmondson, as Legion A came within touching distance of winning the Walter Floyd Memorial Trophy for the eighth time.

Barrow Football Supporters Club claimed a 2-1 win at Roose Cons, thanks to Harry Bateman beating Lee Majors 57-45 and Steve Redpath taking the second game 45-19 against Dave Kewley. Nick Wilkes stopped the whitewash with a 50-18 win against Jimmy Christie.

There was a 2-1 win for the Navy Club against Vickerstown Cricket Club, with Joe O’Leary winning on the black against Josh Francis 58-46. Jimmy Allen bagged the Cricketers' point in beating Andy Charnley 50-25 and Dave Wilkie won 51-11 against an out-of-sorts Lee Jefferson.

Billiards leaders the British Legion came up trumps against their 'A' team, with Allan Edmondson taking a nip-and-tuck first game 100-85. Paul Fieldhouse evened the scored by taking a tight game 100-85 before Kevin Quinn took the final frame 100-84 against Steve Hetherington.

The Soccer Bar took two points away to Roose Cons, with Bateman taking the top man’s game 100-66 against Peter Roberts and he was backed up by Denis Plant beating Mike Irving 100-67 before an improving Rob Chissim got the better of Jimmy Wilson 100-62.

The Navy Club won 2-1 against Vickerstown CC, with Geoff Turner beating Gareth Willis 100-84 before Paul Kyle defeated David Holmes 100-70. Peter Scott’s 30 break was decisive in his 100-84 win against Navy captain John Clamp.
