Barrow Island will welcome Welsh side Rhondda Outlaws in the first round of the Challenge Cup next month.
The Rating Lane outfit are appearing in rugby league’s oldest knockout competition for the first time in 15 years, but they are relative veterans compared to the Outlaws, who are one of five clubs making their debut.
Based in Pontypridd, Rhondda were invited in after being crowned Welsh champions earlier in the year. They are one of two teams from the principality, along with Torfaen Lions, in the tournament.
Island will be hoping for a similar outcome to their previous first round tie, when they defeated Skirlaugh in 2005, when the Outlaws makes the long trek north on the weekend of January 11-12.
