Just over a month ago, Barrow AFC striker Dior Angus stated that it was time for other players, including himself, to start chipping in with goals. It's fair to say he's been as good as his word since.

The Bluebirds' rise to the top of the National League was kick-started by the prolific form of Scott Quigley and John Rooney in September, a month where the chances continued to slip frustratingly wide for Angus.

But a scuffed finish against Bromley at the start of October has proved a turning point for the 25-year-old, as it began his current run of scoring in five consecutive league games in which he's played.

His latest strike - the opening goal in the stunning 3-0 win at Notts County - was a mark of his restored confidence; a guided first-time finish from Josh Kay's cut-back.

Angus said: "It's nice and long may it continue, but we've got goals from all over the team now.

"I said a while back that Quigs was scoring a lot and Roons was scoring a lot and it was just time for me to step up, and others, and myself and others have started to do that.

"Jack Hindle his first goal of the season on Saturday, which was brilliant for him and it's really looking good now."

Angus was terrific on his return from the hamstring injury that forced him off at Dagenham & Redbridge last month and caused him to miss the win over Sutton two weeks before the Bluebirds put the Magpies to the sword.

However, there was a time where the club's medical staff were fearing the in-form forward would end up missing a more significant period of time.

Thankfully, the strain to his calf improved quickly, meaning Angus could quickly rekindle what has become a potent pairing with Quigley.

Angus said: "I had a scan after I got injured and it wasn't good - it was looking like it was going to be six weeks until I was back playing again.

"God knows how I did it, but it turned out to be 18 days. At the moment, we're still monitoring it and looking after it and we're keeping our fingers crossed."

Angus is now focusing on what looks a winnable match at home to Barnet, saying: "We're literally taking it one game at a time; win that game, train, then win the next. I think now people are starting to take notice of us."
