December is set to be a bumper month for Barrow boxing after Ross Cooksey and Mike McGoldrick were confirmed for MTK Global’s next show at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The two Barrovians will both take to the ring on Friday, December 20 against as yet unnamed opponents, with them looking to continue their undefeated professional records.

For Cooksey, this will be his first fight since recovering from the fractured wrist that forced him to withdraw from his scheduled fight at the same venue in September and his second under trainer Johnney Roye.

The 27-year-old featherweight has won his seven professional fights so far, most recently coming back from an 11-month absence in impressive fashion with a points victory against Ricky Leach in July.

Light heavyweight McGoldrick hasn’t had to wait quite so long to step back into the ring again, having earned his first victory via stoppage in five bouts against Latvian Jevgenijs Andrejevs in what was his first six-round contest.

Cooksey and McGoldrick’s fights will come just six days after fellow Barrovian Liam Conroy’s quarter final in the Golden Contract tournament at Brentwood.

Conroy won’t find out who he will be facing until the draw is made in the week of the contest, raising the possibility of a rematch with Steven Ward, who he fought in an epic battle for the WBO European title in June.
