Tommy Barbour made the highest break of the season so far in the Barrow Individual Snooker League during his match against defending champion Matty Hill.

Barbour won the initial match between the two 4-2, potting well while Hill looked strangely out of sorts, although he managed to pick up his standards in the return match, which was drawn 3-3.

In what was a high quality encounter, Barbour still managed to stand out, making a 40 break before topping that effort with a superb 96.

Alan Eaton continued his excellent start to the season in breezing past Brad Elliot 5-1 before sharing the spoils 3-3 in the return, which allowed Elliot to pick up his first point of the campaign.

Tom Millington scrapped his way to a 4-2 victory against an under-par Danny Macdonald and managed to repeat that scoreline in the return game, where he took a couple of tight frames on the colours to put himself back in qualification contention.

John Purcell maintained his 100 per cent record by first defeating Graeme Edwards 5-1 in a match with no significant breaks.

The three-time Mail Snooker champion then showed his class again in winning the return game 4-2 to take his record to six victories out of six.

There was nothing to separate Adam Cook and Neil Rezamand, as they drew both of their matches 3-3, with neither making any breaks of real note.

John Tyerman showed signs of getting his game going by hitting breaks of 29 and 34 in his 4-2 win against Moz Edmonds, before the two shared a 3-3 draw in the return.

Chris Arnold and Luke Mason were another pairing to claim a point apiece, with Mason's 27 the best break of the match. The return has yet to take place.

John Reilly's 5-1 victory over Martin McDonald was something of a surprise, although the latter improved to dig deep and draw the return 3-3.

Jamie Thompson took all six points on offer against Matty Lamb after recording a pair of 4-2 wins.

Anthony Atkinson and Jack Arnold played out a really competitive 3-3 draw that included a 25 clearance from Atkinson.

Arnold was able to step up in the return match, which he won 4-2, although there were no significant breaks from either player.
