A LATE try from 17-year-old Jack Butler sealed a 28-22 victory for Ulverston over Hindley at Dragley Beck in Division One of the North West Men's League last Saturday.

It was nip and tuck throughout with the scores level 18-18 at half time.

Hindley went ahead with an unconverted try, but the home side went in front 24-22 before Butler's 78th-minute converted try finally settled matters.

Other tries for Ulverston came from Tom Spedding (2), Marc Dixon and Sam Shepherd, with the reliable boot of Connor Saunders kicking four goals.

Barrow Island's hopes of playing Division One rugby in the National Conference League were dashed as they were overrun 56-18 at Hull Dockers in their play-off semi-final.

The Island trailed 30-6 at the break and they couldn't bridge the gap in the second half.

Tries for the Rating Lane side came from Carl McBain, Adam Jackson and Max Moore, with Sam Jones adding three goals.

Island remain in Division Two, but they lose their local derby next season with Askam, who were relegated to the third tier where they will meet up with Millom.

There could be four local teams in Division Three if both Walney Central and Dalton are accepted into the Conference.

Staying in that division, Millom went down 44-16 at Heworth after trailing 24-0 at the break. Their tries came from Tom Sibley, Charlie Emslie and Astin Mossop with Lee Postlethwaite adding three goals.

Hindpool Tigers failed to raise enough players for their scheduled trip to Bury Broncos in Division Two of the NWML, leading to their hosts being awarded the victory.
