A BUDDING BMX sensation is celebrating after a vintage year on the bike.

Nine-year-old Emie Seward has enjoyed a year of success after racing in national, European and world competitions.

The Millom girl recently added the European Cup crown to her long list of achievements.

She triumphed at the final two rounds of the competition, held in Belgium, to be crowned the best in Europe for her age group.

She beat the rest of the pack to take the title in the Female 9 category.

It will be the latest in a host of wins in a bumper year for Emie.

The Haverigg Primary School pupil was named European and national champion.

She also built on her fourth placed finish in last year’s world championships to achieve a third place finish this year.

Mum Karen Seward, 47, said of her superstar daughter: “Emie has been training so hard since last year.

“She really wanted to improve in the world championships so it was brilliant for her to finish on the podium.

"It’s absolutely amazing what she’s achieved.

“I’m so proud of her.

"It was just wonderful.”

Her mum added: “She has led all the way in many of the competitions she has been in and was delighted when she crossed the line at the national championships. She pumped the air.”

Mrs Seward said her daughter was very ambitious and wanted to go to the very top.

“Her dream is to go to the Olympics,” she said.
