Askam went down 34-8 at East Leeds in Division Two of the National Conference League last Saturday, with their tries coming from Brad Jackson and Tom Askew.

The Villagers, who remain bottom of the table, have a very busy week ahead of them as they travel to Crosfields on Wednesday night before taking on Ince Rose Bridge on Saturday at Fallowfield Park.

Millom’s game at Woolston Rovers in Division Three was called off with the Woolybacks stranded for over two hours at Greenodd due to a road accident that forced the closure of the A590.

Back in the Second Division, Barrow Island beat Beverley at Rating Lane 28-18 after coming back from 14-4 down at the break to end a run of three consecutive home defeats.

With a strong wind behind them in the second half, Adam Jackson pinned the visitors back for long periods.

Island’s tries came from Adam Nicholson (2), Carl McBain (2) and Josh Banham, with Sam Jones adding four goals. Matt Parkinson was voted as the hosts’ man of the match, followed by Carl McBain.

After having the weekend off, Ulverston, Hindpool Tigers and Roose Pioneers all return to action on Saturday.

Ulverston are at home to Latchford Albion in Division One of the North West Men’s League, while Tigers and Pioneers travel to Chorley Panthers and Crosfield A, respectively.
