Ulverston triathlete Renell Brennan has received The Mail's Sports Performance of the Month award for June after winning the ETU Cross Triathlon European Championships in Targu Mares, Romania.
The former Walney School teacher finished ahead of Spain's Beatriz Molina Garcia after a really close battle as she bettered her time from last year's competition in clocking two hours, 40 minutes and nine seconds.
The 49-year-old, nicknamed the 'Pocket Rocket' by her Ulverston Tri Club teammates shrugged off a difficult swimming stage, which she had to finish via breaststroke as she struggled to catch her breath.
After cycling back into contention, she held off Molina Garcia in a cat-and-mouse running stage.
