Two matches in the first round of the Harry Warman Cup take place tonight, with last season’s winners Dalton going to Barrow Island A, where they are expected to progress into the semi-finals.

However, the Island go into the game with a ten-point headstart, whereas Dalton will be starting from scratch.

The other game has Askam A playing Ulverston A at Fallowfield Park and it is a contest that could go either way as both sides are struggling at the wrong end of the table in the Barrow & District League.

Ulverston have a slight advantage, starting on ten points whereas Askam will start on eight points. The winners of these first-round ties round then play each other in the semi-finals.

The other match will be between the two sides who have received byes into the last four, Walney Central A and Millom A, with Walney starting with five points and Millom and two.

In the league last week, Dalton maintained pole position with a resounding 48-8 win over Millom at Coronation Gardens.

Jack Newbiggin and the evergreen Paul Roskell were the Millom try scorers, while for Dalton, Evan Jones led the way with a hat-trick as his side ran in ten tries in total.

Jack Crarey (2), Ross Barton, Sam Purslow, Harry Gordon, Ben Atkinson, and Scott Paisley were the other try scorers for the visitors, while Paisley and Joe Crarey also both kicked two goals.
