It was a week for big wins in Division Two of the Alan Myerscough (Ford) sponsored Ulverston and District Bowling League.

Lindal A were without doubt the stars of the show, winning their game at home to Walney Park 14-0 only conceding 75 points across the 12 games.

Jack Last was outstanding as he won 21-0, with Dave Bennett, Dave Leach and Rueben Macpake weighing in with wins of 21-2, 21-3 and 21-4 respectively, showing how formidable the Lindal green can be.

Salthouse A travelled to West Mount expecting a tough game, so they will have been both surprised and delighted to come away with a brilliant 13-2 victory.

Stan Edmondson’s 21-2 win was the pick of the bunch with Darren Mountford and Ray Smith backing him up with 21-8 wins of their own.

Hawcoat Park A also won 13-2 on their travels, defeating Glaxo A. Kevin Robinson’s 21-6 was the pick of the bunch, while top man Ian McBride was also in form in his 21-11 victory.

Leaders Kirkby entertained Roose A and stretched their unbeaten run to five games as they won 11-3. Don Marshall and David Slater both won 21-10 to set them on their way, whilst Norman Whitehouse showed there is still life in the old dog for Roose as he rolled to a 21-16 victory.

Askam A also had a comfortable home win 12-2 against a Barrow Island side struggling to find its form at the moment. Top man Bill Coates continued his rich vein of form as he won 21-8, although Barry Wearing beat him to the sweep with his 21-7 victory.

The other two games played in the division were much tighter affairs. Two teams who could well make a push for promotion, Dalton CC A and West Shore, met at the Cricketers' patch. Steve Fullard’s 21-2 victory setting the DCC on their way to a 9-5 win with Norman Burns playing a fine supporting role with a 21-10 win of his own. West Shore’s Steve Hunter continues to impress, this week running out an easy 21-4 victor just edging out Dave Coverdale who had a fine 21-6 win himself.

Police and Kings Head met at Ulverston Leisure Centre. However after sharing the games 6-6, it was the fact Kings Head had to give a game away that cost them any chance of taking the aggregate, meaning the Coppers won the game 8-6.
