Head coach Paul Crarey accepts Barrow Raiders weren't good enough in the first half of their 46-10 defeat against Halifax yesterday, as their winless run was extended to 13 games.
The Raiders leaked five tries in the first 40 minutes against Fax, who were too often met by minimal resistance from their visitors, who were having to field players that haven't been able to train fully during the week.
They managed to pull a couple of scores back in the second half through Jake Spedding and Tee Ritson, but by then the damage had been done at The Shay.
This was Barrow's last game for a couple of weeks and the break could not come at a better time, with their squad beset with a multitude of injuries and in major need of reinforcement, following the midweek release of Gareth Hock.
Crarey said: "I didn't think we were good enough in the first half. We had the first set on their goalline, probably should have scored because we pushed hard enough and they come against us and score through a soft try from that.
"That was the story of the afternoon, really. I think they went eight sets on us, to our two, so they had about six sets more in the first half, but only one set more in the second half.
"But what happened in the first half set the tone for the afternoon."
On whether Raiders' injury crisis had been exacerbated further, Crarey said: "We had a few niggles and Lewis [Charnock] got a head knock.
"The players we had on from that start might not have won, but I think it could have competed better.
"Our kicking was pretty poor - I think one of them we had a dead-ball restart and they went 80 metres and scored."
