THE rematch between Dalton United and Furness Cavaliers saw the hosts come out on top 1-0 in an eventful encounter.

The sides locked horns in West Lancashire League Division Two just seven days after Cavs had beaten them in the Challenge Cup semi-final.

Gareth Jones scored in the first half to put Dalton 1-0 ahead, only for them to have two players sent off in after the break.

However, United were still able to hold on for the win at Railway Meadow, a result which lifts them up to third in the table on goal difference from Furness Rovers.

Vickerstown visited league leaders Fulwood Amateurs in the Premier League and came away empty-handed after suffering a 2-0 defeat.

It was a case of after the Lord Mayor's Show for Ulverston Rangers on Saturday as they were unable to follow up on reaching the Furness Senior Cup final after suffering a loss 1-0 at home to Eagley.

The result means Ulverston finish their season in 10th position in Division One, just one point and one place behind Crooklands Casuals.

Hawcoat did pick up a point at Millom following a 2-2 draw, but the result means they now cannot catch second-placed Lytham Town in the race for promotion.

Elliott Moore put Hawcoat ahead before Nathan Dryden found an equaliser early in the second half.

Moore then scored again but, with minutes left on the clock, Jamie Pattinson levelled to ensure it finished honours even.

Hawcoat can still finish third though, sitting just one point behind Lostock St Gerards with a game in hand. Millom are on course for a high finish too on their first season back in the division.
