LIAM Conroy is feeling the benefits of being given a full six weeks off work to prepare for his British title showdown with Joshua Buatsi tonight.

The 26-year-old's day-job is at BAE Systems in Barrow, which usually means having to travel down to Preston to train after an early start and working a full shift before returning home late.

But his employed have allowed him nearly a month-and-a-half to concentrate on facing the unbeaten Buasi at the Copperbox Arena tonight and Conroy was quick to thank BAE.

"The difference it's made in my performances in training has been unbelievable," said Conroy.

"My body has recovered well and I've been going in every day in a happy mood rather than after being up at 5.30 in the morning, doing a shift as well as a gym session in the morning then travelling down to Preston.

"Usually I'm there just wanting to get the session out of the way, but just preparing and training has been a lot easier and I can't thank them enough for it.

"I've been living the dream; I've always wanted to be a boxer and fight for the British title. I've had a little taste of being a boxer full-time and training for a British title."

Conroy is grateful for the support of sponsors Barbell Nutrition, Cloud Nine, Furness Tiles & Flooring, Kade Kendall, Dianne Singleton at DS Fitness, Nuffield Health, Devro's Barber and Matty Green at Cumbria Strength & Conditioning too.

And with all the hard work in the bag, the light-heavyweight cannot wait to get into the ring.

"I'm at that stage now where I feel I'm absolutely flying," said Conroy. "There is no more training to be done and I can't be bothered waiting around now. I just want to get this fight going now."
