Barrow AFC manager Ian Evatt is hoping to add more highlights in the remainder of his side’s season, off the back of a week that saw them claim two excellent victories on the road.

The Bluebirds made light of a lengthening injury list to follow up a 3-1 midweek victory at Wrexham with a 1-0 win at Eastleigh last Saturday, with both of their vanquished opponents residing in the top seven of the National League.

Saturday’s home game against Harrogate is the first of seven matches AFC have left in their first campaign under Evatt’s charge and they’re aiming to add to their very good record against the division’s leading lights.

If they were to pick up their fourth win in a row at Holker Street, Barrow would add Town to a list of scalps that also includes Solihull Moors and Salford City, two other teams chasing automatic promotion.

Evatt said: “There have been lots of highlights, but the campaign is still ongoing.

“We got two very good results and I’ve said all along that we’re capable of getting those results and I didn’t surprise me one bit that we could go there and win.

“On any given day, we can beat anybody – I’ve said that many times – but obviously the last week has boosted the confidence.

“We’re taking our chances now, which is important, and we’ve got two home games now and we can go into both of those and try and get maximum points.”

Evatt is waiting to see if the knock defender Dan Jones picked up on England C duty against Wales C on Tuesday night will affect his availability for the Harrogate game, which precedes another home match against Boreham Wood.

Jones was subbed off after going over on his ankle early in the second half of his second appearance for the non-league national side, an honour Evatt believes was richly deserved.

He said: “It shows that he’s had a fantastic season. He’s developed during it and he’s still a young player.

“He’s done ever so well and I think I’ve made my feelings on how good I think Dan is clear on many occasions because he’s a fantastic young player and one I think could go on to have a very good career in the game.”

“He’s got a small injury while there, so we’ll have to see how he is.”
