STEPHANIE Gillies scored a podium finish in her age group when Hoad Hill Harriers sent a small team to tackle the half and full Langdale Marathons.
Gillies was one of three taking on the half-marathon, with the courses covering both the Great and Little Langdale valleys, with some steep climbs reaching a one in three gradient in some places.
However, she successfully navigated the course to take second place in the ladies’ V50 category and finish 109th overall.
Paul Managh, who was competing in the V40 category, was the first runner home for Hoad Hill in the half-marathon, finishing the course in 1hr 46mins 45secs.
That was good enough for 41st overall, while the other Hoad Hill finisher was Penny Moreton. She was 300th in 3:12.59, and was competing in the ladies’ V55 category as well.
Tom Southward was the only Hoad Hill runner to tackle the marathon and he finished 20th in 3:44.00.
