DALTON are aiming to add another trophy to their haul for the year when they take on Roose Pioneers in tonight’s CJS Knockout Cup final at Craven Park (kick-off 6.30pm), writes Jeff Coward.

Both of these sides have had good wins in the competition. In the first round, Roose Pioneers had a walk over due to Ulverston not being able to raise a side, but Harry Warman Cup winners Dalton had a hard-earned victory, defeating Askam at Fallowfield Park.

In the semi-finals, Roose had to be at their best to defeat a stubborn young Millom side who pushed them all the way.

Dalton had to go to Hindpool Tigers after the hosts beat Walney Central, but the thoughts of a close game at Brisbane Park were not to be as Dalton were at their best.

This is a game which could go either way; a young Dalton side who play excellent rugby against Barrow & District League champions Roose Pioneers, who have match winners all over the Park.

In last week’s Top Four Play-off semi-final, Dalton defeated Askam 34-0.

Askam put pressure on the home side’s try-line for long periods, but could not get over as Dalton’s defence holding out.

Ben Atkinson, Evan Jones, Brad Richards, Jack Gedlin, Sam Purslow, Harry Brown and Jack Gordon were the try scorers, while Scott Paisley (2) and Ryan Baines kicked the conversions to set up a second final against Roose.
