COTTAGES landed the Lakeland Leisure Barrow Friday League snooker crown on the last day of the regular season.
They defeated reigning champions Barrow Football Supporters Club 2-1 at the Soccer Bar, to take the title by three points from their opponents.
The two captains played against each other first, with Cottages' John Tyerman taking the spoils in a black-ball decider against Alan Eaton.
Josh Howarth pulled one back for the Supporters Club with a win over Dave Simpson, but Billy Burns sealed the victory and the championship with a comfortable 79-38 success against Harold Pearson. With it, came the snooker aggregate prize as well.
British Legion made sure of a top-four play-off place with a 2-1 win over Navy Club B.
Legion captain Alf Carruthers took a nip-and-tuck game over Dave Simpson 70-49, with several few foul strokes playing a part, while Mike Smith claimed a nail-biter against Joe O’Leary on the black – denying O'Leary a shot at the aggregate prize.
Dave Wilkie landed the final game for the Navy, but they missed out on the play-offs by a point.
Roose Cons were the team to take that final play-off spot thanks to a 2-1 triumph over Navy Club A.
Dave Kewley beat Stuart Benson and Lee Majors had a 49-30 win against late new signing Mike Pearson.
Paul Brown took the last point with a comfortable victory over Nick Wilkes.
Billiards champions British Legion finished off the season in style with a whitewash of Navy Club B.
Kevin Quinn, Colin Taylor and Allan Edmondson all won, with Quinn and Edmondson sharing the aggregate prize with Navy A's Geoff Turner and Vickerstown CC's Peter Scott, all having nine victories to their name this season.
Soccer Bar finished third after a 2-1 win over the Cottages.
Howarth and Burns returned to the baize, with the former taking a tight game 100-95 through 19, 15 and 14 breaks.
Denis Plant making it two in a row with the help of a 23 break to beat Adam Cook, with Steve Hetherington getting the better of Jimmy Wilson to stop the dry rub.
Navy A are in the play-off after overcoming Roose 2-1.
Turner was an easy 100-75 winner against Peter Roberts, backed up by Ian Goodwin.
Ray Cooney took the scalp of Alan Harris to pull a point back for the Cons.
Navy A made sure of joint-second with their B-team in the darts thanks to an overpowering 6-1 win.
Goodwin, captain Pat Hunter, Dave Armstrong (125), Neil Jones, Russ Parko (100) and Bryan Jones all triumphed. Nick Wilkes (101) stopped the whitewash.
There were good scores in defeat from Rob Chissim (100) and Terry Chissim (100-111).
Navy B Club beat lowly British Legion 4-3 thanks to Dave Simpson (100), Dave Rafferty (2x125, 137), Chris Kirkby (2x100) and captain Ian Large.
Mike Smith (125-111), Taylor and Quinn (121) were best for the home side.
Champions Cottages rounded-off their campaign with a 5-2 win against the Soccer Bar.
Success at the oche came from captain Shaun McPoland (100), Steve Hetherington, Alan Fraser (100-125), Dave Macmillan (121) and Mala McCoy (100, 107 knock-up).
Mike Fletcher (100) and Barry Butterworth came good for the Supporters Club.
Macmillan, Fraser and McCoy, all with 11 wins each, share the darts aggregate title.
British Legion took all four points at Welch Don through the pairings of Alf Carruthers and Quinn, Tony Woodward and George Horne, and Gordon Hutton with both regular partner Taylor and again with Mike Smith.
Roose Cons' excellent 4-0 home win champions Navy A gave them runners-up spot.
John Rawlinson and Bob Taylor, Jimmy Johnson and joint-aggregate winner John Warburton, and Ray Cooney, firstly with Nick Wilkes and again with Mike Irving, triumphed.
Cottages took third after a 3-1 win at the Soccer Bar, as joint-aggregate winner Paul Fieldhouse, with Steve Hetherington, Dave Leech and Walter Bowes, and Macmillan and McCoy won.
Harold Pearson and Ian Walsh scored by the Soccer Bar.
