The Devonshire Road side triumphed 2-1, with Steve Grieve helping himself to both goals for a Millom side whose average age was 35 – and whose midfield trio have spent more than 130 years on this earth between them.
Tom Stanwix replied for Hawcoat against the experienced home side.
Millom – who have won back-to-back titles after their Division Two success last term – have no game tomorrow, while Hawcoat will look to bounce back on the road at Askam United A.
Also in the Horne Cup in midweek, Vickerstown A disposed of British Legion 4-2, with Danny Keenan scoring all four goals. Paul Williams and Luke Hunter were on target for the Legion.
Barrow Wanderers lost out by the odd goal in five to Crooklands Casuals reserves. Craig McIlvogue and Jordan Wallace had put Wanderers 2-0 up, but they could not hold onto their lead.
Barrow Celtic reserves and Bridge United drew 3-3, with goals coming from Mike Tracey (2) and Jack Caines for Celtic and Josh Harris, Reece Craig and Brandon Edmondson for Bridge.
Bridge won the dreaded penalty shootout 4-2.
Furness Rovers reserves took a safer route through as they beat Haverigg United reserves 8-2. Rovers’ goals came from Jamie Edgeley (3), Will Heywood (2), Rob While (2) and Tyler Wood.
Millom kept up their West Lancs Division Two promotion push with a 4-1 win at Kendal United.
The game was locked at 1-1 until the last half-hour, when Millom struck three times to seal the win. Carl Waters (2), Theo Wilson and Ben McDonald did the damage.
Tomorrow, they host Tempest United, seeking more points to keep them heading towards the next level.
In a midweek West Lancs Division One derby, Hawcoat Park and Crooklands Casuals drew 2-2. Hawcoat twice took the lead through Jake Rees and an Elliot Moore penalty, however, David Graves and Dave Mansergh equalised.
Vickerstown lost 1-0 away at Thornton Cleveleys in the Premier Division.
