KEEN RL youngsters had the chance to mix it with some greats of the game on a special day at Hindpool Tigers.
Players from the host club, Barrow Island, Roose Pioneers, Marsh Hornets, Dalton, Wath Brow Hornets and Heysham Atoms took part in a mini RL festival at Brisbane Park.
Teams from under-sixes up to under-nines were part of a curtain-raiser for the Hindpool Masters v RL All-Stars game, which saw the likes of Adrian Morley, Paul Sculthorpe and Rob Burrow taking part in a charity match-up in aid of the Wildcat Wheelchair Sports Club.
For an hour, the pitch at Brisbane Park was awash with activity, with games taking place side-by-side and the 16 teams across the age groups enjoying the experience.
“It was all really good; everyone said it went really well,” said event organiser Graham Shaw, who also coaches the Hindpool under-sevens side.
The Hindpool players were able to walk out onto the pitch escorting the masters and All-Stars sides, while youngsters from the other teams formed a guard of honour.
At half-time, they also took part in a sprint challenge, racing each other within their age-groups on the pitch to win a prize of a signed Barrow Raiders rugby ball.
