WE are delighted that Reece Burton is doing well after testing positive for coronavirus.

The brave youngster's story is an encouraging one in a scary time of worldwide uneasiness, fear and tragedy.

The teenager's complex health needs meant that contracting the virus was particularly dangerous for him.

But his mum Pam says he's been getting stronger each day since he was discharged from hospital.

She says he was helped by the fact the virus was diagnosed early and his lungs were already bolstered by a course of antibiotics taken the month before.

He's also clearly a determined young man who has overcome other obstacles in his life.

Pam says he's not in the all-clear just yet but he is getting better all the time.

And he's been helped by his friends and family rallying round him with messages of support.

It's also been heartwarming to read how members of the community helped out by delivering food to his doorstep, one of the many acts of kindness we are seeing during this unprecedented time.

Our thoughts are also with the local families who have lost loved ones from coronavirus.

Our hearts go out to them and everyone who has been affected by or is currently fighting this silent killer which is changing lives beyond recognition.
