THOSE wishing to get into the Dickensian spirit and rent a Victorian costume can visit Pure in Market Street and choose an outfit.
There are costume competitions for you to enter, and with 25,000 people expected to attend over the weekend, the competition is strong.
Horse drawn carriage rides and street dancing are the best ways to get involved, especially if you are with the whole family.
A giant tombola is taking place in the festival marquee, situated at Market Place, as well as miniature steam railway rides in Market Street, donkey rides in The Gill, and Husky Sleigh Rides in Daltongate.
