Paul Dewar, owner of the Stan Laurel Inn put his body through hell by completing a 1,600 mile ultra triathlon to raise money for the Brathay Trust.
For more than 20 years Mr Dewar has been raising money for good causes across the area.
In May Mr Dewar, 51, embarked on the challenge of a lifetime, pushing himself further than he had ever gone before.
For his 'To Hell and Back' challenge, he cycled from Lands End, to John O'Groats, to Brathay.
He then ran 10 marathons in 10 days, before swimming Windermere to complete his Herculean task.
Speaking about his inclusion in the finalists for citizen of the year Mr Dewar said: "I still think its come out of the blue. It's about raising awareness for the local charity.
"I just do it for the charity, it's something that I enjoy doing, not so much during, but after!"
"When there is so much bad going on in the world, there are still people who are so generous."
The result of such generosity will be seen across the Furness area as Mr Dewar's chosen charity works to improve the lives of young people.
