A WARNING has been issued to drivers to ensure that they don't fall for an email scam sent by Greater Manchester Police.
Ulverston Police community support officer Paul Harris issued a message on the Cumbria Community Messaging website urging drivers to be wart of a misspelt email "Notice of Intended Prosecution" purporting to be from any police.
It's thought that fraudsters are sending out emails with supposed details of a speeding offence.
It is believed that a link to "check the photographic evidence" will take the victim to Banking Trojan which is involved in stealing online banking details.
In the message, PCSO Harris said: "It’s pretty unlikely to be genuine, especially if the senders email address doesn’t link back to the originating force and you were never in that area in the first place.
"Don’t click on attachments, open links or send payments in the post to random ticket offices. If you are unsure look up the relevant policing areas' ticket office and contact them directly."
