MOTORISTS will be relieved to know that temporary traffic lights on the A590 at the Booths roundabout in Ulverston will be removed today.
Drivers experienced tailbacks all the way to Greenodd on the A590 this morning because of temporary traffic lights installed by United Utilities.
Already having to contend with the temporary lights at Lindal, where flood prevention work is being carried out, motorists had a double dose of roadworks, causing huge delays for many.
Motorists expressed frustration that the traffic lights at the roundabout appeared to have been put up while work was carried out underneath the pavement.
Unitied Utilities said that although the repairs had actually been completed by this morning, the temporary traffic lights could not be taken down straightaway.
A spokesperson for United Utilities said: "We repaired a leaking water main on Canal Street overnight last night.
"Although the work was complete by this morning, we had to let the reinstatement set before traffic could drive over it.
"We will be removing the temporary traffic lights either this evening or tomorrow morning."
