A TEA dance is taking place in Dalton this Silver Sunday.
The event for Silver Sunday will be held at Dalton Community Centre, in Nelson Street, from noon to 2pm.
The free dance is being staged by Dalton Creatives for Dalton mayor, Councillor Ann Thurlow.
The national Silver Sunday events are a day for celebrating the older members of the community.
People can go along and have a brew and some cake and there is help from experienced dance leader Ann Shipperbottom.
There will be dances for all levels, from beginners to advanced.
Shaun Blezard, Director of Dalton Creatives, said: “We are so excited to be holding our first tea dance in Dalton. When the mayor asked us if we were interested we jumped at the chance. Silver Sunday is a marvellous initiative with successful events locally at The Forum and we wanted to do something for our older community members.”
Dalton Creatives will be serving drinks and cakes and would love to see folk there. Silver Sunday started with a tea dance and within a few short years it has turned into a national campaign to tackle the blight of loneliness that affects so many older people.
