THE family of a police officer who died last month at the age of 32 has thanked his friends and colleagues for their support following his funeral.
David Platt Special Constable David Platt died suddenly on January 2. Mr Platt was well-known around Barrow as a serving special constable and he also held a civilian role at Cumbria Constabulary headquarters in Penrith.
His funeral took place on January 15, with a large number of his colleagues paying tribute by taking part in a police motorbike escort and a guard of honour outside St Matthew's Church in Barrow.
In a notice published in the Evening Mail today, Mr Platt's parents Christine and David, said they had been overwhelmed at the level of support.
They wrote: "(We) wish to thank all family, friends and work colleagues from the police and Stagecoach for their support during this sad time, (we) have been overwhelmed by the messages of support, cards, flowers and donations received.
