LARGE sections of an Astute-class submarine have been transported through the streets of Barrow.
The two superstructure sections at Barrow Docks were transported to the shipyard this morning. They are the latest in a series of shipyard movements as part of the Astute-class construction programme.
The loads were transported from the docks to the Devonshire Dock Hall via Michaelson Road and Bridge Road between 10.00am and 11.30am today.
Roadblocks were in place on Michaelson Road, Bridge Road and Walney Roundabout. Car parking will be restricted along the centre of Michaelson Road and Bridge Road.
