LABOUR has triumphed in the first by-election in Barrow since the EU referendum.
Lee Roberts won the most votes in yesterday's by-election in Parkside, ahead of the two other candidates standing for the Barrow Borough Council seat.
The vote was held after the death of Councillor Susan Opie and means Labour hold the seat.
Cllr Roberts took 317 votes, beating Conservative candidate Roy Worthington and Colin Rudd who got 257 votes and 34 votes respectively.

Lee Roberts (Lab) - 317 votes - 52.1% (-3%)
Roy Worthington (Cons) - 257 votes - 42.3% (-2.6%)
Colin Rudd (Ukip) - 34 votes - 5.6% (+5.6%)
