A NEW restaurant selling milkshakes, desserts and ice creams is set to open in Barrow town centre.

The new outlet, called Crav'n, is being opened in the former Ali Jee's Indian restaurant, next to the Post Office at the top end of Dalton Road in Barrow town centre. Ali Jee Spice Bangla Restaurant and Takeaway opened in 2012 and later closed.

New signage on the venue states the new food retailer, Crav'n, is 'opening soon'.

On the restaurant's Facebook page, pictures have been posted of the interior and the restaurant appears to be run by the people behind the former Mr Elephant on Walney.

The news follows the confirmation of the closure of Barrow's Frankie & Benny's restaurant, putting 40 jobs at risk. The chain, at Hindpool Retail Park, is set to close at the end of this week after the restaurant group's owner announced plans to shut down a number of outlets.
