HIGHWAYS bosses have revealed plans to introduce new parking and weight restrictions on a host of residential streets across Barrow, Askam and Dalton.

Cumbria County Council has proposed to introduce a series of restrictions across the borough in a legal notice published in today's Evening Mail.

The council's highways team plans to:

  • Introduce a Limited Waiting Parking Place at all times 10 minutes no return within one hour (permit holders exempt on part of Coulton Street, Barrow ;
  • Introduce Limited Waiting Parking Place Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm two hours no return within four hours (permit holders exempt) on parts of Collingwood Street, Anson Street, Island Road, Ramsden Dock Road and Rodney Street in Barrow and on part of Duke Street in Askam ;
  • Introduce a Disc Zone at all times waiting limited to two hours no return within two hours from 8am to 6pm and four hours no return within two hours from 6pm until 8am on parts of Ancaster Street, Dunvegan Street and Dunoon Street in Barrow ;
  • Introduce Prohibition of Waiting at all times on parts of Chapel Street, Ulverston Road, Station Road and Prince Street in Dalton, on parts of Duddon Road, Ireleth Road, Walker Street and White Combe Way in Askam, and on parts of Hawcoat Lane and Crozier Close in Barrow ;
  • Introduce Prohibition of Driving at all times for vehicles over 7.5 tonnes maximum gross vehicle weight on part of Flass Lane in Barrow ;
  • Introduce a one way restriction on part of Cobden Street in Dalton .

The Evening Mail has asked the council for more information about the proposed restrictions.
