AFTER a lot of debating over Tesco's new controversial parking plans, we would like to have your say in our vote.

Should shops issue to fines to those who park their car in disabled spaces or parent and toddler bays incorrectly?

If you missed the debate, here's what you need to know:

Grocery giant Tesco, which has three stores in Barrow, has said it will equip staff with smartphone apps to capture evidence of drivers flouting rules.

Staff will take pictures of cars parked in the spaces for people with Blue Badges or children under the age of 12 and send the evidence to a private company, Horizon Parking who will issue a £40 fine.

Working in conjunction with the DVLA, fines could rise to £70 if not paid within 14 days.

Here is what you need to know:

When will it all happen?

So farm the scheme has been trialed at 81 stores across the country and will be rolled out at a further 200 in the coming weeks.

Will this happen at every Tesco?

Tesco says they only have a limited number of devices, so for the moment, they will be shared between stores meaning no fixed shops can catch drivers out.

Where will the money go?

The fines will only cover the costs plus fees so it is not a money making scheme, according to a Tesco spokesperson.

What have Tesco said about it?

A spokesman said: "Many disabled customers rely on our disabled parking bays, so we’ve introduced our self-monitoring initiative to highlight the importance of using the bays properly, making it fairer and easier for everyone to find a space."

What have you said about it on social media?

Kimberley Jones, Such a good idea! I often see people park in the child spaces without children yet there are plenty of regular spaces closer to the store. Sometimes impossible to get a carseat/child into the carseat when in a regular space someone parks really close

John Wright, Depends on times of day early morning or middle of night parking is empty.

Jess Hamill, Yes! Definitely agree!

Mark Casson, Should follow Aldi at Risedale Rd and have wider car park spaces across the whole car park. Maybe then people won't use the family n disabled spaces? Just a thought.

Derek McNaughton, Terrible idea. What they should do, is to start fining these utter morons who cannot park correctly, and take up two, sometimes three spaces. Fine them, and stop them doing that, then people will be able to find parking spaces, and not have to park in the diasabled and child spaces

Yes or no, have your say?
