A BUSINESSMAN has applied to open a new car wash in Barrow, creating two jobs.
Andrei Gliga has submitted an application to Barrow Borough Council to change the use of a premises, land on the site of the Fisher's Yard in Church Street, from a former car sales forecourt to a car wash.
The application states Mr Gliga intends to run the car wash from 8am until 6pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am until 4pm on Sundays. Two employees will run the car wash.
Fisher's Yard refers to the alley leading from Church Street to Schneider Square, which was the site of William Fisher's village farm. Very little remains of the site.
In his application, Mr Gliga, of Longreins Road, states that the "car wash will be different from other car washes as it is eco-friendly (uses less chemicals and mainly steam) and would be less abrasive to car surfaces".
A public consultation on the application is due to end on March 9.
