PART of a residential road in Barrow is set to be closed for eight weeks to allow new speed bump and drainage works to be carried out.
The 130-metre section of Thorncliffe Road to be closed is next to the site where Mulberry Homes is developing the former Thorncliffe School into a new housing estate.
The road will be closed from today, May 2, for eight weeks from its junction with Cliffe Lane in a south westerly direction.
Blackburn-based Mulberry Homes is carrying out drainage and road improvement works. The Evening Mail understands the total number of speed bumps on the road is being reduced.
A diversion will be in place via Hawcoat Lane, Oxford Street, Victoria Avenue and up Devonshire Road past the cemetery.
