A POPULAR indoor skate park in Barrow is set to benefit from the addition of an outdoor cycle track.
Former semi-professional BMX rider Jason Keith has submitted plans to create the new cycle track at Urban Extreme in Barrow.
Construction work at Urban Extreme began in mid-summer 2013 and the venue opened in August 2014.
Open to cyclists, skateboarders, scooter riders and in-line skaters, the site also has a café and hosts children’s parties, and has proved hugely popular.
In his application for the new cycle track, Mr Keith said: "The track is not a permanent structure as it is built from dirt which may have a tarmac cover on top.
"It is for the benefit of the skate park, and for the use of the people of Barrow and the surrounding areas."
A decision on Mr Keith's plans is set to be made by the council's planning department by July 10.
