FIRE investigation officers and police are working to determine if a Barrow flat fire in Egerton Court was arson.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze around 4.30am this morning (22) with three engines from Barrow, Walney and Ulverston called out.
By 7am the fire had been brought under control with members of Cumbria police called in to begin inquiries into how the fire began.
A spokesman for Cumbria police said: "At 4.42am this morning we were called by the fire service. We are with the fire service working to determine the circumstances of the fire.
"The fire investigator was there (Egerton Court) at 11am this morning. We are working together to determine if it was arson or what other circumstances there are."
An update on the cause of the fire is expected by this afternoon.
