A BRAVE Barrow lad who is recovering from the serious injuries he suffered after being hit by a car has been nominated for The Mail's Christmas Stars.

Kodi McWilliam was knocked down outside his home in October last year and he suffered a bleed on the brain and a skull fracture.

The eight-year-old was initially treated at Furness General Hospital, in Barrow and then Alder Hey Children's Hospital, in Liverpool.

Kodi spent months recovering at home with his family, and this included the Christmas period last year.

He continues to be an outpatient of the Liverpool hospital. The youngster suffers with headaches and tinnitus.

The incident also affected his confidence, but Kodi works hard at school and he is building his confidence every day. He recent won a trophy for his poetry reading at St James' CE Junior School.

His proud mum, Sam Edwards said: "Kodi was off school for quite a length of time and still now has numerous appointments. It's still a long road to recovery for this little man, but he still continues to strive forward with a smile on his face. He has been very brave."
