A bakery in Barrow is 'exploring the possibility' of moving into larger premises but has assured customers it will remain in the town centre.

Purdy's Bakehouse, found at Dalton Road, has been at its current home since 2020 and has grown into one of the area's most popular spots for a range of sweet treats.

This week, the business owned by Joe Purdy shared that it was looking into a potential move to help it continue to grow, though 'nothing is set in stone'.

"Our dream is to create something even bigger and better, allowing us to expand our opening hours and what we offer," the team explained.

"We’ve been in our lovely little shop for the past six years - we’ve poured an enormous amount of love, time, hard work and money into making it what it is today, and it really does hold a special place in our hearts.

"However, if we’re going to take that next exciting step and expand, it would mean reluctantly selling our original bakery building."

No 'firm decisions' have been made at the time of writing and a new location is yet to be found.

The team added: "One thing we are absolutely certain about is that we want to stay in Barrow town centre.

"We’re passionate about our town and want to continue being part of its future for many more years."

Purdy's is asking anyone who may be interested in acquiring the property at Dalton Road to contact joe@charmingentertainment.co.uk or message the bakery's Facebook page.

"The building is in fantastic condition, in a brilliant town centre location, with lovely neighbouring businesses and so much potential for somebody looking for their own commercial premises.

"It would genuinely be a very sad and reluctant sale for us, but if it means we can grow Purdys into something even more special, while continuing to invest in Barrow town centre, then it’s something we’re willing to explore.

"If you’re genuinely interested, whether that’s a serious enquiry, an informal conversation or arranging a viewing, we’d absolutely love to hear from you."
