The return of a 'most enjoyable' town centre festival in Barrow has been praised for helping to raise awareness of an important cause.

Autumn Fest took place on Saturday, October 24 with a large number of visitors despite the arrival of Storm Boelo.

The Mayor of Barrow, Councillor Kay Hyland, used the event to promote her chosen charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

A spokesperson from Barrow Town Council said: "Despite the constant rain on Saturday, Barrow's annual Autumn Fest was a great success and hundreds of free pumpkins were collected and decorated by children of all ages.

"Due to the rain, many stalls were located inside The Bridge and this year's Mayor's charity was one of those stalls - it raised awareness of the issue and raised funds towards its next screening session for young adults aged between 16 and 35.

"Many thanks to BAE for the use of The Bridge and to Barrow BID who organised this most enjoyable event."
