A choir is set to bring an evening of song to Barrow with its annual concert this month.
The Barrow Male Voice Choir will perform at Abbey Road Baptist Church on Friday, September 25, starting at 7.30pm.
The concert will feature new pieces funded through the choir’s own fundraising efforts, including Karl Jenkins’ Benedictus from The Armed Man, Snow Patrol’s Run, and A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman.
To mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, the programme will open with songs from the USA.
These include the barbershop classic Coney Island Baby and the spiritual Steal Away.
The choir will also perform well-known sporting anthems, including You’ll Never Walk Alone, famously associated with Liverpool Football Club, and Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline, now widespread at a variety of sporting events.
Guest soprano Effie Finch will add variety to the evening with a selection of musical theatre and classical pieces.
The choir will be led by musical director Deborah Milledge, with accompaniment from Margaret Harrison and William Jones-Barnes.
The Barrow Male Voice Choir has been performing in Barrow, the wider Furness area and beyond since 1931.
