Barrow pub plans week-long celebration of cask ales

The White Lion at Mount Pleasant will be getting into the spirit of Cask Ale Week between September 17 and 27.

Across September 17 to 21, a different cask ale will be reduced to £2.50 a pint each day and this will be followed by a Logan Beck Tap Takeover on September 22.

Landlord Adam Taylor said: "We’ve always wanted the White Lion to be a pub that really champions cask ale, rather than simply having a few hand-pulls on the bar.

"Cask Ale Week seemed like a great opportunity to make a bit more of a celebration of it and hopefully encourage people who might not normally choose real ale to give it a try.

"Across the week we’ll have different offers and events, including a Logan Beck Brewery tap takeover, our mini cask ale festival with nine different ales across the Friday and Saturday, and a real ale themed quiz to finish the week."

The mini festival will run on September 25 and 26 before the quiz at 5pm on September 27.

Adam added: "We’re really proud of the range and quality of cask ale we serve at the White Lion, and we’re particularly keen to support local and independent breweries wherever we can.

"Hopefully the week gives both our regular real ale drinkers and people who are just curious about it a reason to come in and try something different.”

It will be one year since the White Lion reopened to the public under the ownership of Adam and wife Sam.

July marked the first anniversary of the family collecting the keys to the haunt, which has continued to grow in popularity over the ensuing months.
