Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, and other iconic characters are returning to the big screen as part of a celebration at Vue Barrow.
Vue Barrow is hosting the screenings in honour of British animation studio Aardman’s 50th anniversary, bringing the clay-animated classics back for a new generation of viewers.
Aardman became a household name with the debut of Wallace & Gromit in 1989’s A Grand Day Out.
Rhys Boyle, general manager at Vue Barrow, said: "Aardman Animation and its beloved characters have charmed UK audiences since the very first adventure of Wallace & Gromit, and we’re thrilled to be able to mark the studio’s 50th anniversary by bringing its most iconic stories back to the big screen this summer holidays.
"Whether you’ve seen these films before or are new to the stop-motion worlds of Aardman, this back-on-the-big-screen season is guaranteed to provide plenty of moments and memories for families to treasure."
The season began on July 10 with a double bill of Wallace and Gromit’s earliest adventures, A Grand Day Out and The Wrong Trousers.
Further screenings will include A Close Shave and A Matter of Loaf and Death from July 18, followed by their full-length feature Curse of the Were-Rabbit from August 1.
It’s not just this plasticine pair returning to cinemas—a host of other Aardman favourites are also part of the line-up.
Chicken Run will screen from July 24, followed by Flushed Away from August 7, The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! from August 14, and Early Man from August 21.
Aardman’s big-screen offerings for younger viewers continue with Shaun the Sheep Movie from August 28 and A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon from September 5.
To mark the occasion, Vue is encouraging families to take part in its new Summer Family Passport Book scheme, designed to make the most of the school holidays.
Visitors can collect stamps in their passport book each time they see a family film at Vue—including all of the Aardman classics.
Families are encouraged to share photos of their passport books and cinema outings on Vue’s dedicated Facebook post for a chance to win a £25 Vue gift card.
Discounted children’s tickets are also available through the Great British Summer Savings scheme, allowing those aged 14 and under to enjoy the magic of the big screen at a lower price.
