HOAD Hill Harriers running club have confirmed the details of their 2026 summer 10k and mile-long fun run.

This year, the run will be held on Wednesday, August 19, beginning at Ulverston Park Sports Club.

The 10k route runs from the clubhouse, up Watery Lane and follows the coast road up to Conishead Priory.

The route continues around the grounds of the priory before coming back on itself.

The fun run begins at 6.30pm and the 10k begins at 7pm.

It costs £17 to enter the 10k if you are affiliated with a running club, or £19 if you are not.

However, it is possible to get £4 off the cost of registration if the QR code on the summer 10k posters is scanned.

Runners can pay on the day of the race, though there will not be a discount.

Anyone planning on paying on the day is requested to bring the exact money needed in cash.

Registration closes 15 minutes before the race begins.

The fun run costs £5 to enter and participating children under the age of eight must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Only runners aged 15 and older can join the 10k, but the fun run is open to everybody.

Penny Moreton, committee member at Hoad Hill Harriers, said: "It's fast, it's flat, it's one of the fastest courses in South West Cumbria and North Lancashire.

"We attract runners of an incredible calibre - it attracts runners from a long way off because they know they can get a good PB (personal best) on it."

Medals will be given to all those who finish the race and there will be specific prizes for those who finish in the top five.

There will also be prizes for the top finishers in various veteran categories.

Team prizes will also be given out, but runners will only be eligible if they compete wearing their club shirt.

The race will be chip timed to ensure accuracy.

Ms Moreton said: "We're looking forward to everyone coming over.

"People that are park runners, this could be your first race as a park run is 3.1 miles and this is 6.2.

"It's usually really enjoyed by everyone that comes.

"We've been doing it for more than 30 years, it's got a very good reputation."
