Gordon Ramsay has revealed he is talking to ITV over a potential reboot of his iconic series Hell's Kitchen.

The British cookery reality show on ITV, hosted by the famous chef, first aired back in 2004.

While only airing across four series in the UK until 2009, the show has gone on to be a huge hit in the US, having aired for more than 20 years since 2005.

Ramsay notably only appeared in one series back in 2004, but has now said that the show could return.

ITV 'talking to' Gordon Ramsay about Hell's Kitchen reboot in UK

Gordon revealed that the show could be making a comeback with a new revival in the UK.

"I can tell you exclusively, I think we’re gonna come back to the UK with Hell’s Kitchen live next year," he told The Sun.

"And it’s about time because everywhere I go across the UK, it’s ‘please bring it back’.

"So we’re talking now with ITV to bring it back.

"And fingers crossed, we’ll have something exciting to keep you updated on."

The UK edition featured ten celebrities competing with each other, with the first few series presented by Angus Deayton and the last by Claudia Winkleman.

Celebrities were placed in two teams, red and blue, at a specially constructed London restaurant-kitchen with the task of catering for a clientele of famous people.

Eliminations were determined by a series of public votes.

Gordon Ramsay did not return for the second series, as he was unable to devote time to the project, and instead pushed on with the US version.

Other chefs such as Gary Rhodes and Jean-Christophe Novelli went on to replace him in future series.

Hell's Kitchen US is slightly different, featuring novice chefs rather than celebrities, who compete for a job as head chef at a restaurant.

A progressive elimination format reduces a field of 12 to 20 contestants down to a single winner over the course of each season

In a typical episode, two contestants are nominated for elimination, with Ramsay then eliminating one of the nominees chosen, or sometimes two.

A chain of Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen restaurants have since opened, which are inspired by the show.

ITV reviving another classic show with Alison Hammond set to present

Hell's Kitchen is not the only show that ITV is looking to reboot for a modern audience.

ITV is reviving Name That Tune, which last aired in the late 1990s, with Alison Hammond set to host.

The game show first began in the mid-1950s, originating in the United States on NBC Radio in 1952.

The new series will see contestants go up against each other as their music knowledge is put to the test in a series of fast-paced rounds.

It will feature tracks from the world’s best-loved artists and bands from across every genre - all building towards the finale.

Alison said:  "As a massive music lover, my biggest challenge as a host will be trying not to grab the mic and start singing along when one of my all-time favourite tunes comes on!

"And trust me… that will take serious self-control!

"I grew up absolutely loving the original show, so being part of this now feels like a real full-circle moment.

"I cannot wait to get into the studio, put the contestants through their paces, and see who really knows their music.

"And let me tell you, being joined by the super-talented Name That Tune band, who’ll be belting out some of the biggest songs on the planet in their own unique, electric style… oh, it’s going to be next-level.

"Bigger, louder, and more feel-good than ever, this is going to be EPIC!"

Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment, Reality & Daytime at ITV, added: "Name That Tune is such an iconic brand, we are excited to be bringing this refreshed global format to the UK audience.

"It's a fun family series that not only sees contestants challenged in the studio, but viewers can play along with all the family, providing a unique playlist that spans generations."
