What to expect from the Bay Short Film Festival this July

The festival will visit three towns in the area near Morecambe in three days.

It all kicks off on Friday, July 3, with a short film screening at the Civic Hall in Carnforth.

Doors open at 7pm and the event lasts until 9.30pm, with the theme of the films being 'awkward confessions and strange encounters'.

Nine short films will be shown at this screening, with a midpoint interval and a question and answer session with guest filmmakers.

Refreshments will be available and there is an opportunity for discussion about film.

Ulverston is the next port of call for the festival, with two different events being held in the town on Saturday, July 4.

The first event is being held at the Roxy Cinema where a screening of eight short films will take place.

The theme for these films will be 'worlds in miniature'.

The event begins at 12pm and will last until 2.30pm.

As with the previous event, there will be a question and answer session with filmmakers.

At 6pm the same day, there is a networking event for filmmakers held at the Sun Inn in Ulverston.

The last day of the festival will be held in Barrow on Sunday, July 5.

A screening will be held at Cooke's Studios, with doors opening at 12.30pm and the event concluding at 4pm.

The films shown at this screening will be linked to the theme 'the space between us'.

Eight films will be shown at this screening, with the customary question and answer session with filmmakers after the films have been shown.

Immediately after the event, another networking opportunity for filmmakers will be held at Cooke's Studios.

Tickets for all of the events have varying prices, but are between £5 to £8.

However, there are some free tickets available.

Festival director Darren Henderson said: "We are delighted to be bringing our summer festival around the Bay again this year.

"We are thrilled to add Carnforth Civic Hall to our regular venues at Roxy Cinema Ulverston and Signal Film and Media in Barrow.

"Following another fantastic festival in Morecambe in January, we are excited to share three specially selected programmes of wonderful short films with audiences across the region."
