A season of childhood classics is heading back to the big screen.
Vue Cinema in Barrow will celebrate Roald Dahl with a series of beloved film adaptations, and is inviting families to experience the magic of his stories on the big screen once again.
The season opens with a 30th anniversary screening of James and the Giant Peach, starting on February 28.
From the director of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline, the film follows an orphan on an extraordinary journey inside a giant peach, accompanied by a cast of insect friends.
Matilda, also celebrating 30 years, returns to the cinema from March 28, bringing its tale of rebellion, magic and resilience to a new generation.
The film tells the story of a gifted girl who uses her telekinetic powers to stand up to her cruel parents and the evil principal, Mrs Trunchbull.

"To coincide with the 30th anniversary of two of these iconic films, we’re hugely excited to bring the very best of Dahl’s work back to the big screen for families and first-time viewers to enjoy."
Another staple of Dahl’s cinematic legacy, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, will also return to cinemas on March 7.
The classic, starring Gene Wilder as the eccentric chocolatier, takes audiences on a fantastical tour of his wondrous and sometimes perilous chocolate factory.
Other family favourites featured in the Roald Dahl season include the stop-motion adventure Fantastic Mr Fox, the 1990 version of The Witches starring Angelica Huston, and Steven Spielberg's heartwarming adaptation of The BFG.
Vue Barrow now offers the Ultra Lux experience, featuring the cinema’s biggest and comfiest seats with an extra-wide armrest, a personal table for snacks and beverages and a state-of-the-art wine cooler.
