A stand-up paddleboard and kayak hire company in the Lake District has announced it will close after eight years in business.
LakeSUP, a water sports company based in South Windermere at Newby Bridge, issued a statement yesterday on social media announcing its permanent closure.
It’s been owned and run by one woman for its duration, Chelsea Clarkson.
Chelsea said that it was with ‘a very heavy heart’ that the stand-up paddleboard and kayak company would be closing.
She wrote on the business’s Facebook: “After eight amazing years on the water, this has been a very tough decision to make, but it feels like the right time to move on to a new chapter (and maybe even have a summer holiday next year!).
“This season has been absolutely brilliant!
“I’ve met so many lovely new people and got to catch up with lots of familiar faces too.
“I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who’s supported LakeSUP over the years, whether you’ve joined me for a paddle, sent a message, or simply cheered us on from the sidelines.”

For eight years, the company has provided tuition and top-quality equipment to those wishing to paddle on Windermere.
It operated out of the YMCA Lakside, North Camp, Newby Bridge, and only opened during the warmer months, from the end of March to late September.
Finally, Chelsea said: “Goodbye for now and thank you for being part of the LakeSUP journey.
“Watch this space for what we’re up to next!”
