A refurbishment is underway at Vue in Barrow, promising luxury seating, enhanced visuals and 'immersive' sound.

The project, taking place at the venue in Hollywood Park Retail and Leisure Complex, is expected to be completed before the end of the year.

Michael Hitchen, from Vue Barrow, said: "We are looking forward to unveiling our new look to our customers in Barrow later this year when they’ll be able to enjoy luxury seating, the latest big screen technology and our next generation retail concept."

Upgrades include 'Lux' leather recliner seating (Image: Vue)

The upgrades include 'Lux' leather recliner seating with a foldaway table, plush seat, headrest and armrest.

A more premium 'Ultra Lux' option will be available, featuring an extra-wide arm rest, a drinks cooler, space to store bags, and a personal table for snacks and beverages.

The back and legs of the Ultra Lux also recline independently, allowing customers to find the most relaxing viewing position.

The cinema will also introduce Laser by Barco projection, designed to create a brighter and sharper image, and Dolby Atmos sound.

Vue’s new 'Vue Your Way' retail experience will also launch as part of the refurbishment.

Vue Your Way allows customers to scan their ticket before moving around the food and drink area to pick their snacks before paying at the checkout.
