A THIEF has been sentenced after stealing items from a British high street store.
Darren Hughes, of Newton Road in Dalton, stole £35.93 worth of cleaning products from Home Bargains on May 3 this year and £5.99 worth of laundry detergent on May 14 this year.
The 50-year-old pleaded guilty at the first opportunity at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on June 19 and received a 12-month community order as punishment.
As part of the order, he was required to complete 60 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay £85 in court costs and to pay £5.99 back to Home Bargains in compensation.
